Washington, DC—U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) today welcomed Katie Boehnke of Clark, South Dakota, to his Washington, DC office. Boehnke is the daughter of Dave and Annette of Clark. She is also the granddaughter of Ruben Woehlhaff of Eureka and Bob and Bonnie Boehnke of Watertown. A graduate of Clark High School, Boehnke is currently a political science major at the University of South Dakota.
“Summer internships allow students to not only gain insight into the political process but also to experience our nation’s capital,” said Johnson. “I am pleased that Katie has been able to join us this summer.”
“I’ve always been drawn to improving healthcare and education,” said Boehnke. “This internship will offer a unique opportunity to play a part in making a difference.”
The Washington, DC internship program matches interns' interests to South Dakota and federal issues while providing a first-hand opportunity to experience a wide-range of office duties. Interns may attend hearings, research issues for projects, and work with the office administrative staff.
College sophomores, juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply for Johnson's upcoming fall internship program. College credits or a stipend are available.
